Malaysia to benefit economically from hosting Bahrain Grand Prix, says Zahid

Malaysia will host the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit from October 2 to 4, 2026. The race, which was originally cancelled in April due to conflict in the Middle East, has been rescheduled to take place in Malaysia, marking the circuit's return to the Formula 1 calendar for the first time since 2017.

Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated that the event is expected to provide significant economic benefits to Malaysia. Officials anticipate that the race will reach millions of viewers worldwide, helping to elevate the international profile of the Sepang International Circuit. In preparation for the event, Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain and the official sponsor of the Grand Prix, has announced plans to operate direct flights to Kuala Lumpur.
